A Creative Event Space & Design House

Located in historic Downtown Troy, NY, Takk House is a creative event space and design house for dreamers, lovers, and curated lifestyle leaders. We put a fresh take on the idea of “all-inclusive.” This is not for cookie-cutter events. We are a uniquely versatile wedding and event venue with multiple spaces, plus design, planning, coordination, florals, catering, and bar - all under one roof. We invite you to spend some time here and discover more about Takk House.

heidi Benjamin

Heidi has worked in the wedding industry for the last fifteen years. She got her start documenting love as a wedding photographer. Her passion for photography, art, and connecting with people manifested into opening Takk House in 2014 after many years of witnessing love in magical spaces far and near.

Caring for a historic building is no easy feat but Heidi knows giving the weathered walls new life has been an adventure of a lifetime. Heidi is passionate about educating visitors in the history of Takk House and the many transitions it has been through over the years.

Takk House is owned and operated by Heidi along with the help of her amazing team.

history & transformation

Previously a Knights of Columbus building, The Takk House has been transformed into a unique one of a kind space featuring original breathtaking architecture, beautiful wrapping staircases, ballroom, custom designed suites for getting ready, newly renovated restrooms and food staging facilities. The basement level (which once was a bowling alley!) has been transformed into a tiki bar and shuffleboard club named Franklin Alley Social Club.

Our large, open floor plan allows you the ultimate canvas for creativity, and we pride ourselves in embracing that! The flexibility of the space lets you stick with its minimalist beauty or create a one of a kind atmosphere – it’s up to you and your imagination and vision. Whether you are looking to do something totally DIY or need a little extra help with details we are here to help!

Takk means “thank you” in Icelandic. Pronounced “tock,” as in “tick-tock,” the sound a clock makes. The “thank you” house? Well, yes! The basis of most celebrations is gratitude. Thank you for coming. Thank you for inviting us. Thank you for everything you’ve done. Thank you for being in our lives. Thank you for caring.

Takk House is the house of gratitude. A space to celebrate with the people in your life that you are thankful for. Takk.
